About
At BD Flowers, we are passionate about growing
Jan Star is the driving force behind BD Flowers. In 2018, he combined decades of experience as a passionate ornamental grower with years in the flower trade to bring BD Flowers to life. His vision: creating and delivering high-quality, market-ready flowers. Inspired by his passion, the company was named Blessed Dream (BD) Flowers, a nod to turning dreams into reality.
To stay ahead of trends and meet the needs of the market, we work closely with traders and florists. This shared expertise guides the breeding of our own unique cut flower selections, each marked by the ‘Dream’ name. In September 2025, Jan returned to the classroom to expand his skills even further, ensuring BD Flowers continues to innovate in flower breeding.

BD Flowers in three points

Partnership with Marginpar
Our Sanguisorba Red Dream® has truly made its mark. Thanks to our partnership with Marginpar, this variety, once only available for a few months, is now available year-round.
Awarded second place at the Glazen Tulp Award 2021–2022, Red Dream® impresses with its long stems, elegant lateral branching, and airy look. These features give bouquets space to shine while inspiring florists and traders alike. And with Marginpar as partner, BD Flowers’ promise of strength, color retention, long vase life, and uniformity remains at the heart of every stem.
Sustainability & Nature
At BD Flowers, we believe that growing flowers goes hand in hand with caring for nature. On our nursery, we minimize the use of chemical inputs. In fact, we actively breed varieties that thrive without any chemical support. This way, we cultivate not only beautiful flowers but also sustainable solutions for the future.
Our efforts are recognized with GlobalG.A.P. and GlobalG.A.P. IDA certifications, meeting international standards for sustainability, environmentally conscious cultivation, and responsible production.

But sustainability goes beyond certifications. Our nursery is a vibrant piece of nature: (young) hares find shelter here, countless insects buzz around, swallows swoop over the crops, and many other species call our land home. Each year, we even welcome several breeding pairs of partridges, a bird species listed as endangered. Thanks to all this, our grounds are more than a nursery: they are a sanctuary for biodiversity.
In this way, we combine our passion for high-quality flowers with respect for the nature that surrounds us.
